Editorial Support As You Write

You don’t need another writing programme.

You just need an experienced editor and book strategist in your corner who can give you feedback on your manuscript as and when you need support.

Send me a chapter, an outline, or a section of your manuscript, and I’ll send you a detailed video review showing exactly what’s working, what isn’t, and where I’d focus next.

Sometimes you’ll need reassurance that you’re heading in the right direction.

Sometimes you’ll need help untangling a knot in the structure.

Sometimes you’ll need someone to challenge an assumption, refine an argument, strengthen your voice, or spot that one thing that’s holding the whole book back.

Whatever stage you’re at, you’ll receive practical, personalised feedback designed to help you write a stronger nonfiction book and keep moving forward, one chapter at a time.

Here are some of the things my editorial feedback can help with:

Strengthening your book's structure and flow

Voice development and storytelling

Turning abstract or complex ideas into language your reader understands

Strategic feedback and next-step guidance

You’ll know what’s working, what needs attention, and exactly where to focus next.

Hey, I’m Cate

One of the things my authors value most is having an experienced editor they can call on when they’re stuck, second-guessing themselves, or simply too close to the work to see it clearly.

Over the years, I’ve found that timely editorial feedback can save authors months of frustration. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh perspective, a strategic question, or an experienced eye to spot what’s holding a chapter, argument or entire manuscript back.

As an author, editor and former magazine journalist, my role isn’t to rewrite your book for you. It’s to help you write a stronger one, with greater confidence, clarity and momentum.

Whether you need reassurance you’re heading in the right direction, help solving a structural problem, or guidance on what to focus on next, I’m here to help you keep moving forwards.

“I wouldn’t have got this book finished without Cate. It certainly wouldn’t have been half as readable without her guidance and input. And since publishing the book lots of readers have turned into clients.”

– Pam Phillips, Author of The Prosperous Agency, Book Coaching and Editing Client

“The process of writing Cate takes you through has meant that I have managed to get chapters written despite having young kids and a business, and it has all felt achievable. No retreat to the Outer Hebrides needed.”

-Rebecca Earlby, Author of Rice For Breakfast

“Cate takes what feels like a scrambled, chaotic bucket of ideas and helps you turn it into a clear, functional strategy — a structured way of writing that truly captivates the reader and brings out a person’s expertise.

Before working with Cate, I was going around in circles. Her reflections on my work helped me understand how to bring out what needed to be said, without getting lost in the mess in my head. I can’t thank her enough for that.

~ Awena McCormack, Author of Flip Your Fatigue (coming soon)

“Cate was absolutely amazing at helping me bring my ideas to my consciousness and kept me accountable as I moved through writing my second book. She is patient, understanding and empathetic, and pushes you at the perfect pace to keep you productive without completely overwhelming you.”

– Gemma Ray, Broadcast Journalist, Writer and Best-Selling Author

“Cate is a powerhouse for fine-tuning your text, puzzling out where to place your stories, and adding the finishing touches of a word here and there that make you realise ‘Yes! That’s what I meant to say.’ She also has the whole background of your business interest and marketing strategy in the back of her mind, and will link you back to your possibilities in each conversation.”
